NEET exam is conducted for candidates who are interested to study medical UG courses (MBBS or BDS). This article comprises the NEET examination pattern, marks allocated for each subject, scores for each subject and the languages or medium that can be opted by the candidate.

LANGUAGES/MEDIUM

Candidates can choose their language/medium while applying for NEET, there are 11 languages in which NEET is conducted. Following are the 11 languages,

  • English, Hindi, Urdu, Telugu, Tamil, Bengali, Kannada, Gujarati, Marathi, Assamese, Oriya.

In NEET examination centers commonly used languages will be English, Hindi & Urdu. If candidate chooses other language as their medium, the examination center will be in the particular state where that language will be primarily spoken. Following tabular shows the same,

NEET EXAM PATTERN

NEET examination will be conducted in OMR sheet; it’s an offline method, where candidates will be marking their answers using Pen in the OMR sheet. Once the answer is marked it cannot be changed. Candidates have to mark their answers clearly in the given OMR sheet.

Each question will be multiple choice questions (McQ’s) and candidate has to choose the correct answer from the given choices.

NEET SUBJECTS

Subjects covered in NEET are Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

Both 11th and 12th Class Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology) are covered for NEET questions.

NEET QUESTIONS ALLOCATION

In NEET Questions are allocated for each subject separately. Below is the number of Questions allocated for each subject:

MARKS ALLOCATION FOR NEET

  • For each correct answer, mark will be +4.
  • For each incorrect answer, -1 mark will be deducted from the total.
  • If the candidate doesn’t knows the answer they can leave the answers unmarked, there is no negative marks for unanswered questions and it’s not necessary to attempt all the questions. Unknown can be left without answer to avoid negative marks.
  • Candidates should not provide multiple answers for a single question, as marks will not be provided if multiple answer is given.

NEET EXAM TIME

Examination time will be 180 minutes (3 hours). There is no time restriction to complete each section.

HOW TO FILL OMR ANSWER SHEET

  • A ballpoint pen will be provided in the NEET exam hall for the candidates.
  • Candidates will be provided a test booklet along with a code mentioned in that booklet, candidate has to mention that test booklet code in their OMR sheet without fail. Failing to mention the code, the OMR sheet will not be valid for correction.
  • Rough work can be done only in the rough space that is provided in the test booklet.
  • Once answer is marked in the OMR sheet candidate should not try to erase the answer or try to give multiple answers. Erasing details in the OMR sheet will make the answer sheet void and that OMR sheet will not be valid for correction.
